Spectrum Daily Report

Mixed Influences

GBP: The British Pound faces pressure amid political uncertainty and fiscal challenges under Labour. In fact, chancellor Rachel Reeves must plug a £30BN deficit, possibly by breaking tax pledges. On that note, market confidence hinges on her commitment to fiscal rules, but internal party demands for more spending risk undermining that stance. Ultimately, Goldman Sachs forecasts continued GBP underperformance due to economic vulnerabilities, policy ambiguity, and impending Bank of England rate cuts.

EUR: The Euro holds steady but faces mixed influences. Recent improvements in sentiment and inflation data hint at underlying strength, yet geopolitical tensions and German economic weaknesses cap gains. For now, the European Central Bank is expected to hold rates, reinforcing stability. In fact, analysts see the Euro outperforming the Pound as UK fiscal risks mount. Ultimately, near-term movement hinges on inflation figures from Germany, France, and Italy due this week.

USD: The U.S. Dollar remains resilient despite looming government shutdown risks and a cooling labour market. While political gridlock may trigger short-term softness, strong economic data and hawkish Federal Reserve rhetoric offer support. Looking forward, investors await jobs data and business surveys for further direction. Unless U.S. data significantly disappoints, the Dollar is expected to consolidate its recent moves against other major currencies.
