Waiting Markets

GBP

The British Pound remained subdued as investors lacked fresh UK economic data to guide trading. Attention is turning to Friday’s GDP figures, which could provide a clearer picture of the health of the British economy and influence sentiment towards sterling. Until then, the pound may struggle to find a clear direction, although domestic political developments and movements in UK government bond markets could still affect it.

EUR

The Euro remained under pressure as investors continued to assess the outlook for the European economy. With limited fresh data available, attention is focused on upcoming economic figures for signs of how the region is performing. Political developments and expectations around interest rates could also influence sentiment. For now, the euro may remain sensitive to changing expectations about the strength of the European economy.

USD

The US Dollar faced some pressure as investors became more cautious ahead of key US inflation figures. Stronger than expected price growth could support the dollar by increasing expectations that interest rates may stay higher for longer. A softer inflation reading could have the opposite effect. For now, the dollar’s direction is likely to depend on how incoming economic data shapes expectations around future interest rates.
